    The Opportunity: Community Treasures Thrift Store Manager
     
    We are seeking an experienced and motivated Thrift Store Manager to lead the successful launch and ongoing operations of our brand-new thrift store specializing in furniture, household goods, regular and seasonal décor, as well as some jewelry. This role involves overseeing all aspects of store setup, daily management, and strategic growth to ensure a thriving retail environment that aligns with our mission and goals.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement written procedures for all aspects of store operations.
    • Oversee the processing of donated items; manage the rotation of items and the disposal of donated items in a timely fashion.
    • Contribute to the development of annual revenue projections to meet financial goals, track monthly budget and expenditures and maintain inventory supplies.
    • Provide ongoing financial reporting to the Executive Director regarding sales progress.
    • Be aware and have knowledge of daily, weekly and monthly sales performance, percentage of sales goals reached and overall operation of the store.
    • Manage and oversee the schedule and pick-up of donations.
    • Conduct daily safety inspections by walking around the store before opening to make sure floors are free of potential hazards. Ensure restrooms are in working order and isles are clear.
    • Work with and support the efforts of the Volunteer Coordinator to manage staffing costs by balancing volunteer and staff costs whenever possible.
    • Provide strong leadership to staff and volunteers, setting operational performance standards and offering training.
    • Coordinate and participate in the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of staff.
    • Monitor work performance of staff and volunteers and provide ongoing feedback to improve productivity and employee and volunteer job satisfaction
    • Supporting volunteers and staff with pricing issues, customer concerns.
    • Cross train and mentor staff for succession planning; create opportunities for internal promotion.
    • Conduct investigations should allegations of misconduct arise, reporting all information to the Executive Director and the Finance Manager as soon as possible.
    • Maintain confidentiality regarding all personnel matters.
    • Develop schedules for paid staff and volunteers to provide excellent customer service and meet budget plans.
    • Conduct regularly scheduled communication with staff to provide direction, guidance and oversight to personnel.
    • Host staff meetings as needed to share information and engage in team building.
    • Implement marketing strategies to retain and increase customers, increase sales and donations.
    • Collaborate with Community Links Marketing staff to implement daily, weekly and monthly store promotion through the website and social media.
    • Attending community meetings, networking and collaborating with community partners.
    • Ensure compliance with all legislative and organizational policies and procedures adhering to Health and Safety, Operations, and Finance.
     
    Education, Skill Set, Knowledge, and Abilities:
    · Three years related retail management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience providing customer service and information in a retail setting, including at least one year training and supervising the work of staff.
    · Knowledge and experience with Internet Software; Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word); Presentation Software (PowerPoint) and email.
    · Physically able to meet the duties of the job including lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds of product.
    · Demonstrated experience building and motivating teams and the ability to improve productivity, engagement and retention.
    · Exceptional customer service skills and the talent to build guest loyalty and community relationships.
    · Superior time management skills, experience driving results, and the ability to deliver business results.
    · Demonstrated ability to achieve consistent profitability by maintaining high standards in sales, merchandising, marketing, floor displays, store promotions, guest service, public relations and expense control.
    · Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and experience working with a diverse population are essential.
    · Ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays as needed.
    The Role:
    Salary: $60,320/year, paid bi-weekly
    Hours of work: 40 per week
