The Opportunity: Community Treasures Thrift Store Volunteer Coordinator
We are currently seeking a Thrift Store Volunteer Coordinator to oversee volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, and retention at our brand-new Community Treasures Thrift Store specializing in furniture, household goods, regular and seasonal décor, as well as some jewelry. The successful candidate will work closely with the Thrift Store Manager to ensure smooth daily operations and positive experience for both volunteers and customers to ensure a thriving retail environment that aligns with our mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, supervise, and support volunteers to create a welcoming and efficient work environment.
- Develop volunteer schedules to ensure sufficient coverage and maintain high-quality customer service.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours and contributions.
- Train staff to effectively engage and collaborate with volunteers.
- Support donation management and overall thrift store operations.
- Conduct regular communication with volunteers to provide guidance and ensure accountability.
- Work with the Thrift Store Manager to develop strategies for volunteer recruitment, retention, and recognition.
- Foster teamwork and uphold ethical standards in alignment with the organization’s values.
Education, Skill Set, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Minimum 2 years of retail or resale experience (non-profit experience is an asset).
- Strong leadership, volunteer management, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Comfortable working in a physically active environment (lifting up to 50lbs, stairs, extended periods of standing or sitting).
- Flexible schedule, including availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience using volunteer management software and data processing tools.
- Successful applicant must pass a Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) and a Child and Youth Intervention Check.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required for travel to rural locations in all weather conditions.
Compensation:
Salary: $52,000/year, paid bi-weekly
Hours of work: 40 per week
