Airdrie Chamber to host event during Homecoming Festival
September 28, 2022On October 1, the City of Airdrie will host a free Homecoming Festival to welcome back the community and show appreciation for the vital services, first responders, and neighbourhood businesses.
The fun-filled tailgating event will feature kids and youth activities, motivational wellness talks, fireworks, and a drive-in outdoor movie!
The day's thrilling high point will be a performance with Canadian musicians Scarlett Butler, The Blake Reid Band, Lisa Brokop, Julien Austin, and Kyle McKearney at Ed Eggerer Athletic Park in the evening.
Marilyne Aalhus, Executive Director for the Airdrie Chamber of Commerce mentioned the Airdrie Chamber of Commerce teamed up with the city for one event.
“We were invited by the city of Airdrie as partners on this Homecoming Festival event coming up on October 1, where we will be celebrating business. It's a business appreciation event from noon until two where businesses and their families can come down, enjoy a free bite to eat, and be entered to win some prizes.”
This homecoming festival is very much around coming back together after some very challenging years, According to Aalhus, we all know that there were some very exceptional businesses that persevered throughout this pandemic.
“We call them COVID Warriors and we're just here to really thank them for all of their efforts in doing what they've done over the last two years.”
In response to the pandemic, the Canadian government launched a Commemorate Canada funding grant in December 2021 for local communities all around the nation. Airdrie was given $75,000 to assist the Homecoming Festival, which is slated to take place on October 1, in conjunction with Mental Health Week, according to a press release the city received on July 7, 2022.
“It's going to just be a really fantastic day to have our community come together. The chamber is honoured to be part of that event to celebrate business in our small event within this large Homecoming Festival.”
The Chamber will have food for around 125 business owners, their event is on a first come first serve basis and businesses can register here.
